What is IFW?IFW stands for Institute for Women. This organization primary focus is to offer an education to young women and girls in Ethiopia. It will be a safe haven for them to come learn valuable skills that will help them succeed later in life. Our school will not only be a place for education but a place for them to be cared for.

The next level will be secondary will be similar to seventh grade onward through high school. The final level will be Pre-College. This level will allow women to complete their education with a degree and it will also allow others to return to school to finish up their schooling.

The facts |
Women in Ethiopia have only an 18 percent literacy rate and there are currently over one million female adolescents who are not currently enrolled in school. [1] As it is evident from the statistics from UNESCO, Ethiopian boys have more access to education than Ethiopian girls. The greatest disparity can be found in secondary education and adult literacy and action must be taken in order to eliminate the gender gap in these areas. The ‘traditional’ role for a woman in Ethiopia is mother and homemaker. Although these are noble roles, we want girls to have the opportunity to be whomever they want to be. This is not a compulsory academy, but it is also not an exclusive one. All we require is to meet the young women and understand how to best teach them and improve our schools.
